A last minute weekend away to the Norfolk coast coincided with the temperature dropping to single digits – at least it remained dry for walking part of the Norfolk Coast Path! 🙂
Like a BLT only better! Bacon, Egg, Avocado, Spinach, Tomato – The BEAST Brekkie is the perfect start to the day that you need!!
First stop of the day is to Musée de l’Orangerie which contains two rooms housing 8 of Monet’s Water Lilies compositions made up from 22 panels for a total length of 90.83 metres. The greens and blues and purples of the paintings make for a calming feeling while sitting and taking in Monet’s spectacular accomplishment.
Last minute break to Paris. Not the cheapest way to do it (£230 return) but ticket booked Tuesday for the last Eurostar train leaving at 20:00 Thursday, and 2h15mins later you’re in the centre of Paris!
The Yoke Ridge and Troutbeck route climbs the Garburn Pass to follow the best side of the Kentmere Horseshoe along the rollercoaster ridge of Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick and Thornthwaite Crag. A steep descent to Threshthwaite Mouth is followed by a long return down lovely Troutbeck.

Left work sharpish at 5.30 , quick stop at the flat to chuck a few clothes and toiletries into a bag and then hit the road.
First stop this weekend is Wookey Hole Hotel (£35, 1nght), about 10kms from Cheddar Gorge, for a good night’s sleep. Enjoyable journey, great sunset, slow going past Stonehenge as I’d forgotten it was summer solstice eve, but it’s great to be back on the road again and I have a smile on my face and a sense of freedom.
