Vasamuseet on the island of Djurgarden contains the impressive 17th-century warship Vasa, try not to miss the informative video.

Nordiska Museet portrays Swedish cultural history from the 1520s to the present day.

Thielska Galleriet mostly covering Nordic art from the 19th and early 20th centuries, it includes paintings by all the major Swedish artists who formed an artists’ colony at Grez-sur-Loing, south of Paris.

Skansen was the world’s first open-air museum and opened in 1891 to show an increasingly industrialised society how people once lived.

Ostasiatiska Museet contains one of the foremost collections of Chinese art outside Asia.

Ostermalms hallen this market hall on Ostermalmstorg is a temple of gastronomy, nowhere else in the city is there such a range of high quality delicacies under one roof.

Medelhavsmuseet has vast collections from prehistoric cultures around the mediterranean.

Spirit Museum is situated on the island of Djurgarden.

Gamla Stan (Old Town) is one huge area of historical heritage with many sights just a few metres apart including the Royal Palace.

Kaknastornet TV Tower has the best views of Stockholm.

Drottningholm Palace can be reached via a canal cruise from the city centre.
